
Rosie Perez (born Rosa Maria Perez on September 6, 1964) is an American actress as well as choreographer, dancer and activist. Her breakout moment came with Tina's character in Do the Right Thing (1989), followed closely by White Men Can't Hop (1992). Perez's portrayal of Tina in Fearless (1993) brought her an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Her film credits that have featured her have since included It Could Happen to You (1994), The Road to El Dorado (2000), Pineapple Express (2008) as well as Birds of Prey (2020).Perez earned three Primetime Emmy Award nominations for In Living Color (1990-1994) and another Emmy nomination for her performance in the film The Flight Attendant (2020-present). She has also appeared in stage productions on Broadway including The Ritz, Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune, and Fish in the Dark. She was also a co-host on the ABC talk show The View during the series in the 18th season. She was a graduate of Grover Cleveland High School in Ridgewood, Queens. [11] In 1999, her mother was living in the poverty of Woodside Houses when she died of AIDS-related complications.
