Lee Roy Selmon blends the advantages of a scholarship to football in his family and the benefits of community service. The first time, he was brought up by Lucious as well as Jessie Selmon, on an agricultural property near Eufala within Oklahoma as the youngest of their nine children. He was also one of three siblings who represented Oklahoma in football. All three made All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey was an All-Star for the whole 1973 season. Lee Roy won the Outland and Lombardi Awards as the nation's top lineman. Lee Roy won two championships, and the score was 32-1-1 over his three seasons as the Oklahoma's starting linebacker. Third scholarship he was named an National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon graduated with a degree from the university of California, Berkeley. Fourth year of the college Lee Roy devoted ten hours per week to volunteer projects. In Tampa, he played for the Buccaneers for nine seasons, and eventually became an all-pro. Also, he began a career in business. The year 1988 was the first time he worked as an Account Relation Officer for First Florida Bank in Tampa. He was employed by the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute and the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It's no wonder that the Junior Chamber of Commerce designated him as one of the most prominent young men in the country. When he was a student Lee Roy was 6-2 and weighs a little over 256 lbs. He was captain of his college team in the year 1975. He was promoted to the associate director of Athletics at University of South Florida. He was named to the College Football Hall of Fame by the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994, as well as the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave their Distinguished American Award, to Mr. Lucious Selmon and his wife. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor who presented this award.
